Target skill
The job description supplies the role-specific skill, method, tool, or way of working. Repeated and required language receives more attention.
Resume skills generator
Compare your resume with one real job. Build a skills section only from direct evidence, inspect the source behind every included skill, and turn gaps into questions before they become claims.

Direct answer
A resume skills generator should produce a focused section that reflects both the target role and the candidate's real experience. This tool needs two inputs: the current resume as the evidence source and one job description as the relevance source. It returns grouped, copyable skills only when both documents support them.
A job keyword alone is not a qualification. Related experience is useful context, but it stays labeled as related. Missing evidence becomes a question about a real project, course, responsibility, or credential. If the answer is no, leave the target term out and use the full resume and job description matcher to understand the broader gap.
The evidence model
The target determines relevance. The resume determines truth. The question preserves the boundary when those two documents do not yet agree.
The job description supplies the role-specific skill, method, tool, or way of working. Repeated and required language receives more attention.
The resume must contain direct wording and a visible source excerpt. Only this state can enter the copyable skills section.
Adjacent or absent evidence becomes a question about the real project, context, or credential. It does not become a new claim.
Fictional evidence map
Daniel Hart, Northstar Labs, and every statement below are fictional teaching examples. They are not customer results, resume claims, or hiring benchmarks.
Own cloud infrastructure on AWS.
Built platform services on AWS and Docker.
IncludeProduction experience with Kubernetes.
Docker is adjacent container evidence.
VerifyGraphQL services preferred.
No project or skill is named.
QuestionWhat belongs in the section
AWS · Figma · Salesforce · SQL
Include the named platform only when the resume shows where it was used.
Financial modeling · User research · CI/CD
A method is stronger when a bullet also establishes the problem and your responsibility.
Customer success · Compliance · Product strategy
Use the domain label when the experience section shows meaningful work in that area.
Mentoring · Cross-functional collaboration
Keep broad interpersonal skills selective and connect them to people, decisions, or delivery.
Different career situations
Targeting a similar role
Use the new posting to reorder skills you already demonstrate. Keep the proof in the experience section so the list does not stand alone.
Changing careers
Adjacent experience can justify a conversation, but it should not silently become exact target experience. Use the gap questions to recover honest bridge evidence.
Early career
Coursework, internships, volunteering, and shipped personal projects can support skills. Name the context instead of inventing professional tenure.
How it works
Use the document as the evidence record. Include projects, education, and certifications when they support the target.
Use a complete posting so responsibilities, skills, outcomes, and hard requirements stay in context.
The deterministic Matcher checks direct aliases first, then labels a small set of adjacent relationships without treating them as equivalent.
Use the grouped section as a draft, review every evidence excerpt, and answer the unresolved questions before adding anything else.
Best practices and limitations
Keep the final list short enough to scan and specific enough to understand. The most important skills should also appear in project or work-history bullets with context, ownership, scope, and an outcome when known.
Need help writing that evidence? Use the evidence-first resume bullet generator.
Do
Keep role-relevant skills with visible source evidence.
Do
Group related tools and methods for fast scanning.
Check
Confirm adjacent skills before using the exact target term.
Check
Separate credentials from skills and verify them independently.
Avoid
Copying every keyword from the posting.
Avoid
Treating a document count as an ATS or hiring score.
Privacy and method
Pasted text is compared in the browser. Uploads use the existing in-memory extraction route; the original file is discarded after extraction. External OCR may process image files when configured. Nothing is saved unless you deliberately continue.
Evidence Matcher 1.0
The deterministic method identifies curated skills, outcomes, working styles, credentials, and a small number of prominent unknown terms. It checks direct aliases first and uses a limited adjacency map only to formulate questions. It does not infer proficiency, duration, recency, or employer judgment.

A resume skills generator helps choose and organize skills for a resume. This tool compares one resume with one target job description, includes only skills with direct resume evidence, shows the source excerpt for each included skill, and turns adjacent or missing skills into verification questions.
Only when the current resume also contains direct evidence for that skill. A job posting establishes relevance, but it does not prove experience. A related skill is labeled as adjacent, and a missing skill becomes a question instead of entering the copyable section.
No. Include the skills that are relevant and true, then support the important ones in work-history or project bullets. A long keyword list can weaken credibility when the candidate cannot explain where or how each skill was used.
They can, but broad labels such as leadership or communication are stronger when the resume shows a project, decision, audience, or outcome that proves them. This generator includes a working-style skill only when it finds direct language in the resume.
No. It is a transparent document count: how many prioritized target skills also have direct text evidence in the supplied resume. It does not reproduce an employer's ATS, rank the candidate, predict an interview, or judge whether someone should apply.
Yes, when image OCR is configured and the screenshot is clear. PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, PNG, JPG, and pasted text are supported. Text-based PDF or DOCX files usually produce the cleanest extraction.
Pasted text is analyzed locally in the browser. Uploaded files are sent to the application for temporary text extraction and the original file is discarded. The comparison does not save the documents unless the visitor explicitly continues into the full resume workflow.
